CHARLOTTE, N.C. — For the second consecutive week, the High Point University women's golf team swept the weekly Big South Conference awards as announced by the league office on Thursday.
Makayla Grubb was selected the Big South Golfer of the Week for the second week in a row, while Rachel Joyce earns her second Big South Freshman of the Week honor this season.
Grubb tied for 16th at the Fighting Irish Classic (par 71, 6,062 yards) with a seven-over-par 220 (75-70-75). Her second-round 70 was the Panthers' lone under-par round of the tournament, and she tied for the team lead with eight birdies, which tied for 12th most in the 81-player field that featured four Power 4 programs.
Joyce returned to HPU's starting lineup and finished with a 229 (78-78-73), in which her final round was tied for the team's best of the day and moved her up 19 spots on the leaderboard. She tied for third overall in par-5 scoring at 2 under, and she collected six total birdies. Joyce finished in a tie for 40th in her second collegiate event.
