Columbia, Ky. – The King University cycling team competed at Lindsey Wilson for a cycling invite against multiple other colleges. Performances came from XC and downhill on the second day of competition in the two-day event.
The day started with the XC, which was a 3.1-mile loop track. The men's ones and twos saw four King cyclists place in the top 15 for the four-loop track. Jose Pena led the way for the Tornado, placing ninth with a final time of 1:10:26.21. He had very even splits throughout the race, averaging 2.6 miles per hour the whole race.
Ian Kangas, Nathan Feduniw, and Cooper Ward all competed and placed 13th, 14th, and 15th, respectively. Kangas finished with a time of 1:12:48.84, Feduniw finished with a time of 1:13:17.39, and Ward finished with a time of 1:14:34.97.

Ashley Davis was the only woman who competed in the ones and twos, finishing in 13th place. Davis finished the four laps totaling 17.6 miles in 1:35:20.78.
The women showed up big in the twos and threes, with all three King athletes finishing in the top five. Alexa Whaley finished in first with a time of 48:25.27 through the two-lap course. Kaitlyn Mezo and Mashaila Fordham placed third and fifth with times of 49:56.86 and 50:20.24, respectively.
Downhill was the final event for the day. The men's ones and twos had Colin Burgess with the highest place for King, with 12th place in 53.9 seconds.
The men's twos and threes had Noah Hornbeck and Hayden Fischer place third and fifth, respectively. Hornbeck finished with a time of 1:00.7 and Fischer with a time of 1:02.0.
Women's had Whaley finish first again in the twos and threes with a time of 1:16.8.
Up next: King will be back on the road on September 19th and 20th as they head to Lees-McRae for the Collegiate MTB Challenge starting at 8:00 a.m.
