SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Baker Hudson of the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's golf team has been named the Southern Conference (SoCon) Golfer of the Week for the second time, as announced by the league on Wednesday.
This honor brings UNCG's season total to five SoCon Golfers of the Week awards. Elle Burnette received the award on Sept. 2, while Kasey McIlvaine earned the recognition on Sept. 16 and with Hudson on Oct. 14.
Hudson earned her second collegiate title at the Spartans' own UNCG Collegiate that was played on Monday and Tuesday at Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina.
"It meant a lot to capture the individual win at Forest Oaks," stated Hudson. "The course was in incredible shape, and I felt really good about my game especially in the last two rounds. I'm so grateful to have super supportive teammates and coaches who cheered me on throughout the tournament. I'm so proud of my team for capturing the team win and excited to see what we can accomplish in the spring."
The New Bern, North Carolina, native opened the tournament with a one-over-par (73) before carding a six-under-par (66) and a five-under-par (67). Her round two and three scores were the best of tournament, along with her 14 birdies and 3.83 par four average.
Her 10-under-par (206) ties the UNCG low 54-hole individual record with Tara Bettle from 2021-22 and Ava Romfo from 2024-25.
The Spartans won the tournament behind rounds of 296-289-281 for a two-over-par (866) total, securing the title with a seven-stroke cushion. UNCG's round one and three scores were the best of the rounds. The Spartans' seven-under-par (281) score was the best of the tournament. The Blue & Gold finished second overall with a 4.11 par four average and with 169 pars, as well as third with 40 birdies.
