RADFORD, Va. – The Radford men's basketball program and head coach Zach Chu revealed Thursday morning the team's upcoming non-conference schedule for the 2026-27 season.
The details
Before the start of the regular season, Radford faithful can get their first look at the 2026-27 team at an open exhibition inside the Dedmon Center. Radford will host Ferrum College on October 29, with entry to the game free for all who attend.
The 2026-27 season will then begin on the West Coast for the Highlanders, where they will take on San Francisco on November 2 and their first of four power foes in California on November 4. This will be the team's first trip out west since 2017, when the eventual Big South Championship program won their side of the Continental Tires Las Vegas Classic, with victories over North Carolina A&T and UC Davis. Radford's only previous match-up against San Francisco also came in that tournament, with the Dons coming out on top 52-41. The meeting with California will mark the first ever contest between the two programs.

Radford will then return to the Appalachian Mountains for its next road test against another power foe. The Highlanders visit Tennessee on November 9 in Knoxville, with their last battle against the Volunteers coming all the way back in 2001 when Radford fell by a slim 72-66 margin.
With the trio of road tests out of the way, Radford finally returns to Dedmon for its home opener on November 14 against Shenandoah. Fans won't have to wait as long for Radford's next home battle, as the team will play host to Furman as well on November 18. The meeting will mark Furman's first ever trip to the Dedmon Center, and just the second ever meeting between the two teams, with the first coming back almost on the same day of November 19, 2021.
The Highlanders will march back on the road for their next three contests, but two of those will come on a neutral site. Radford will return to the state of Tennessee to take on SoCon foe Chattanooga on November 21. Following that, the Highlanders will spend their holiday weekend competing at AU's Capital Thanksgiving Classic. Opponents set for that MTE will be hosts American on November 27, Hampton on November 28, and UMass Lowell on November 29.
As the calendar flips to December, Radford is back at home to take on Virginia-Lynchburg on December 3. Radford's non-conference schedule officially touches both ends of the continental U.S. with its next road trip, as on December 5 the team visits East Carolina. On December 13, Radford makes the much shorter road trip to Blacksburg, Va., to face New River Valley rival Virginia Tech for the first time since 2021.
Two of Radford's last four non-conference battles come at home, beginning with Bluefield on December 15. After a return trip to UNC Wilmington following last season's match-up against the Seahawks at Dedmon, the Highlanders cap their home non-conference slate with Elon on December 22. Following their holiday break, the team concludes its non-conference schedule with one last power foe, Maryland, on December 29 in College Park.
