The Fall Art Crawl is returning to Downtown Statesville on Saturday, September 19, and we’re looking for artists who want to be part of it!
Whether you paint, draw, sculpt, photograph, create jewelry, work with mixed media, or bring another creative talent to the table, we want to see what you create.
Artist applications are open now, but don’t wait. The deadline to apply is September 1, 2026.
SFD launches "Fill the Drum" Battery Take Back Challenge
Rechargeable batteries can start fires when thrown in household trash.
While battery collection is available year-round (Mon-Fri from 8a-5p at Fire Station 1), the Statesville Fire Department is launching the Fill the Drum Battery Take Back Challenge from August 14 through October 3, 2026.

The goal is to fill the Call2Recycle collection drum before Fire Prevention Week, October 4–10, 2026.
Residents can bring unwanted rechargeable batteries to Fire Station 1 at 822 Fifth Street, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Together, we can help keep our community safe.

Fall adult softball league registration opens August 12th
Ready to get back on the field? Registration for the Fall Adult Softball Leagues with Statesville Recreation & Economic Vitality opens Wednesday, August 12, 2026. Co-ed and men’s leagues are available for players of all skill levels.
Registration opened: Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
Team registration deadline: Monday, August 31 at 5 p.m.

City of Statesville lifts mandatory water restrictions as drought conditions improve
The City of Statesville has returned to Stage D1 Moderate Drought conditions following the latest update from the North Carolina Drought Management Advisory Council (NCDMAC). As a result, the mandatory water restrictions that were in place under Stage D2 Severe Drought have been lifted. Read more here.

- Skilled Laborer - Street (Full-Time): This position is responsible for semi-skilled work in a variety of construction, maintenance, and repair assignments involving the use of specialized tools and equipment within the Street Division.
- South Statesville Junior Police Ambassador (Part-Time): This position is responsible for assisting with community outreach activities and youth engagement programs sponsored by the Statesville Police Department, including City-sponsored events, educational programs, and community functions within South Statesville.
