TROUTMAN John James Mazag, 53, of Troutman, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2016, at Carolinas Medical Center. He was born Oct. 24, 1962, in Dearborn, Mich. John was a loving, caring, selfless person who was totally devoted to his family. He dearly loved his wife, Shelley; daughter, Taylor; son, Zachary; mother, Maureen; brothers, Joe and Jim; and other friends and family too numerous to name who all absolutely loved and admired him in return. He will be truly missed by all, including his dog he loved so much, Manning James Mazag. John was an avid Michigan fan who enjoyed basketball, biking, camping and hiking. But of all these things, being with his family was the dearest to him. A celebration of life service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 20, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Troutman, with the Rev. Dieter Punt officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Mazag Children Education Fund, c/o Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 308, Troutman, NC 28166. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.troutmanfuneralhome.com. Troutman Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for John Mazag.

PEGGY TAYLOR

I had the pleasure of knowing and working with John during his time at Clark Equipment/Dana. I watched as he progressed from a machine operator to a position in the HR department. John was truly one of the good ones. He genuinely cared about everyone and was always willing to help and find answers to any question one might have. Comfort and condolences to the family during this time.
